IBPS Clerk (Clerical Cadre) is the entry-level banking government job that opens doors to a stable career in India’s public sector banks. With thousands of vacancies annually, it is one of the most accessible bank exams.

Participating Banks

Same as IBPS PO - 11 public sector banks including Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, PNB, Union Bank, etc.

Eligibility

Age: 20-28 years (General). Relaxation applies.

Qualification: Graduation in any discipline. Must have studied locally (proficiency in official language of state of posting required - known as Local Language Certificate in some banks).

Exam Pattern

Preliminary Exam

  • English Language: 30 questions, 20 min
  • Numerical Ability: 35 questions, 20 min
  • Reasoning Ability: 35 questions, 20 min
  • Total: 100 marks, 60 minutes

Main Exam

  • General/Financial Awareness: 50 questions, 35 min
  • English Language: 40 questions, 35 min
  • Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude: 50 questions, 45 min
  • Quantitative Aptitude: 50 questions, 45 min
  • Total: 190 marks, 160 minutes

No interview for IBPS Clerk - final selection purely on written exam.

Salary

Starting Basic Pay: โ‚น11,765/-

In-hand after DA, HRA, and allowances: approximately โ‚น26,000-โ‚น34,000/month (varies by city).

Increments: Annual increment of โ‚น655 for first 3 years, then higher increments. Clerks can also be promoted to officer cadre through internal exams.
