RRB Group D is the gateway to Indian Railways for 10th pass and ITI holders. It is one of the largest single recruitments in India with vacancies in the lakh range.

Eligibility
Qualification: Class 10 pass (Matriculation) + ITI in relevant trade, OR Class 10 + National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC), OR Class 10 + 2 years of apprenticeship training.
Age: 18-36 years. Relaxation applies.
Exam Pattern
CBT (Computer Based Test)
- 100 questions, 90 minutes
- Mathematics (25), General Intelligence (30), General Science (25), General Awareness (20)
- Negative marking: -1/3 per wrong answer
Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
After CBT, shortlisted candidates (3x vacancies) appear for PET:
Male candidates:
- Lift and carry 35 kg weight for 100 metres in 2 minutes
- Run 1000 metres in 4 minutes 15 seconds
Female candidates:
- Lift and carry 20 kg weight for 100 metres in 2 minutes
- Run 1000 metres in 5 minutes 40 seconds
Document Verification & Medical
Standard railway medical exam follows. Vision is tested - check notification for standards.
Salary
Pay Level 1: ₹18,000 basic pay
With DA, HRA, and other allowances: approximately ₹22,000-₹28,000 in hand.

Physical Preparation Tips
Start physical training at least 3 months before PET:
- Daily 2-3 km run (build to 1 km in 4 min 15 sec)
- Weight lifting practice with correct posture
- Stretching and stamina exercises
